SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND INFORMATION FOR PASSENGERS

HELICOPTERS

BEWARE OF ROTORS Your line of approach and departure should always be within the “SAFE AREA” i.e. where the pilot can see you. Please do not stand under or near the main rotor blades. The tail rotor is particularly dangerous being difficult to see while the blades are in motion. BAGGAGE must be stowed correctly. Passengers are not to load/offload baggage, please ask a KZN employee to assist should you have baggage to stow or remove. SEAT BELTS should at all times remain fastened. Please ensure that it is tightly fastened as soon as you are seated. Belts must remain fastened until after landing and until the pilot says you may unfasten the belt. DOORS are to be secured properly before take off. Do not slam doors. Do not attempt to open them in flight, or until the aircraft has landed and shut down and the pilot has given permission for them to be opened. WINDOWS – please do not throw litter etc out of the windows due to potentially inflicting damage to the aircraft.

FIXED WING AIRCRAFT

BEWARE OF PROPELLERS. Never approach an aircraft with the engines running. BAGGAGE must be stowed correctly and be secured. Please ask a KZN employee to assist you should you wish to stow or remove baggage. SEAT BELTS must be buckled up as soon as you are seated. They should remain fastened for the duration of the flight. STAIRS can cope with the weight of one person on them at a time; please do not exceed this restriction.
